Vanessa thinks this is one of the best ways to learn how to make socks—no tiny needles or skinny sock yarn here.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNot quite immediate gratification, but thicker yarn and bigger needles lets the new sock knitter focus on the principles of sock knitting without things getting too fiddly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn this \u003cspan style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"\u003etwo-part\u003c\/span\u003e class, students will learn how to make a slipper anklet sock using either worsted or heavy worsted\/aran weight yarn. Skills taught: \u003cbr\u003e· Short rows (used to turn the heel on a top down, heel flap style sock)\u003cbr\u003e· Decreases (left and right leaning)\u003cbr\u003e· Picking up stitches\u003cbr\u003e· Kitchener stitch\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSkill Level:\u003c\/strong\u003e Intermediate. Students \u003cspan style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"\u003eMUST\u003c\/span\u003e be able to cast on, knit, purl, and knit in the round (using DPNs, magic loop, or two circulars).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e*In order to be ready for the second class, you will have to do your knitting homework and finish the legs of your socks at home - knee socks would be very ambitious, so we suggest you keep the leg short.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eClass will be capped at 8 students.
